Installing windows 7 lenovo laptop. Lenovo service center. Why did it happen

The other day I was asked to install Windows 7 instead of Windows 8 on a Lenovo B590 laptop. As usual, I tried to enter the BIOS through F2, then through other keys and ops .. it did not work. I had to dig and find a way out, or rather an entrance. What I would like to share with you today. On the Internet, I also saw quite a lot of questions from those who wanted to change the "eight" to the "seven", but everyone had problems entering the BIOS.

How to enter BIOS on a Lenovo laptop

First, turn on the laptop and insert the Windows 7 disc into the drive. Turn off, take out battery, we pull out the mains power from the laptop. We put the power back in place and start the laptop from the button NOVO. This is such a small button, which is located next to the power button.

After a few seconds, you will be taken to the service menu. Choose Russian language, keyboard layout - Russian. Next choose

Diagnostics - Extra options- UEFI Firmware Options

Now the laptop will require a reboot - press the button Reload and voila! We entered the BIOS.

Now use the arrows on the keyboard to navigate to the section Security, use the down arrow to select the item security boot and click Enter. Parameter Secure Boot translate into position Disabled- turned off.

We return to the main BIOS menu with the key Esc and arrows to the right go to the section startup. Choose an item Boot- click Enter. In this section, use the arrows to find your HDDATA HDD… and the + (plus) button located on the right of the numeric keypad, raise it to the very top of the list. If it does not rise to the very top, then choose Windows Boot Manager and with the - (minus) key we lower it down. In the same way, we raise the CD-ROM drive to second place - ATAPI CD1.

Next in line, you can put the device from which Windows will be installed in case? unless it's a built-in drive.

Back again with the key Esc, click down on the item UEFI/Legacy Boot parameter UEFI Only, change to Legacy Only.

Save the configuration with the key F10 and agree with the key Enter.

Keep in mind: if you forgot something, changed it, or set it up incorrectly, then you can enter the BIOS on the Lenovo B590 to restore the default settings only by removing the back cover of the laptop (it's okay - just 2 screws) and removing the CMOS battery for a while. Then don't forget to set the correct date and time.

How to install Windows 7 on Lenovo laptop instead of Windows 8

Now, in fact, the process of installing Windows itself.

After the reboot, no keys need to be pressed, although we have assigned a key to enter the boot device selection menu. F12, the laptop will find the boot device itself and show the installation menu.

At the beginning of the installation, be sure to select Full installation.

How to partition a Windows 7 hard drive

ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED!!!

Everything is mandatory, otherwise you will not be able to reformat the screw from CDA to NTFS. Click on the right to delete Disk setup- select sections one at a time and click Delete.

And don't forget to think about voiding factory warranties. And if it's a change for you operating system more important than guarantees, then we continue the preparation hard drive.

Now we need to create 2 partitions, we do not count one more, which the system will create itself with a size of 100 MB. To do this, click on the right Create, select the desired size (I set 200,000 MB - a little less than the second section) and click OK. We do the same with the rest of the unoccupied space, only we do not set the size, but leave it as the system suggests.

We have finished partitioning the hard disk, we select the second partition in a row (the first one is occupied system files and has only 100 MB of space) and click on the installation. There will be no further features, the installation of Windows 7 will proceed as usual, just follow the instructions of the system.

!!!Attention!!! If you are an insecure user and doubt your abilities, entrust your equipment to the hands of the masters of our service center for quality repair of Lenovo laptops.

How to install Windows 7

Make sure the version you want to install is 64-bit. This is important, because you simply will not find the necessary drivers for 34-bit.

The manufacturer has set such a boot order that the operating system will only boot from the internal hard drive, so you need to disable protection and change the settings in the BIOS.

To start the BIOS mode, after turning on the device or rebooting, after waiting 1-2 seconds, when the Lenovo manufacturer's logo appears on the screen, press the Fn + F2 keys several times. It is important to be in time before the OS loading itself begins. The F12 key allows you to move between sections, and the +/- keys are used to change positions in the menu. The F5 and F6 keys are navigation between items in the menu.

If you are interested in the question of how to install Windows 7 on a Lenovo Ideapad 100-15IBY laptop, then there is a Novo key to open the BIOS menu, the manufacturer emphasizes that the computer must be turned off.

Also, depending on the laptop model, the key combinations may differ. Possible options are the Del, F2, or Esc keys.

In order to set the settings we need in the BIOS, select BIOS Setup.

Load Defauit Settings -> Yes

OS Optimized Defaults -> Win 7 OS

Go to the Boot menu item and set the following settings:

Boot Mode -> Legacy Support

Boot Priority -> Legacy First (instead of Uefi First)

USB Boot -> Enabled

We have canceled the default boot priority and set the parameters we need, now we need to return to the Exit menu item and save -> Saving Changes -> Yes.

The external USB drive should already be connected to your laptop. Now you need to go to the boot menu by pressing the F12 key or the Novo key and select Boot Menu, which will display your device for installing the OS. You need to select it and then Windows itself unpacks the files. Then you should select the full installation.

Next, you need to split the workspace into sections using the "Create" button. Keep in mind that under the system, for full-fledged work, it is better to leave at least 30 GB. When you have finished partitioning all available space, you need to select the partition reserved for the system and click install. Follow the instructions of the setup wizard and use the familiar interface comfortably for you!

When installing any Windows versions(xp, 7 or 8) from any media from a USB flash drive or from a DVD to a Lenovo ideapad G50-30 or Lenovo ideapad G40-30 laptop, an error 0x000000A5 occurs:

The same error will occur when trying to load various test utilities - MHDD, MEMTest, etc.
Do not panic, most likely everything is in order with your laptops - the problem lies in the BIOS version and its settings. If you have a model with pre-installed Windows 8, then you can update the BIOS directly from it and then install Windows 7. But most of the configurations come with FreeDOS pre-installed, in this case you will not be able to update the BIOS and you will have to configure the BIOS.

To enter the BIOS on the Lenovo G50-30 and G40-30, use the FN + F2 combination when turning on the laptop or. You should open a window where the laptop model, BIOS version and other information are indicated:

You can navigate through the menu with the arrow keys, go to the Boot tab and set the settings as shown in this photo:

Boot mode = Legacy support
Boot Priority = Legacy First, leave the rest as is

Go to the Exit tab and select in order in the first paragraph, put the desired OS Windows 7, Windows 8 or Other if you want to install another operating system, then select the second item, press Enter and agree to load the standard settings. We remember the 3rd point and do not touch it yet.

Go to the Configuration tab and in Usb Mode - select USB 2.0, this is necessary during the installation of Windows from a USB flash drive, after installation, the setting must be returned back to USB 3.0 and after that we check that all the settings that we changed have the desired values, return to the Exit tab and do step 3.

After that, if all the settings are set correctly, the Windows installation will pass without problems.
A small nuance, if you have Windows 8 installed, and you want to install Windows 7, then you will probably need to convert the disk partition from GPT to MBR, for this you need to do the following:

  1. Boot from the installation USB flash drive or disk with Windows 7
  2. Press Shift + F10 if command line did not start try the combination Shift + Fn + F10
  3. Type the commands, one per line and press Enter after each
  4. diskpart(the utility for partitioning the disk will start)
  5. list disk(the command will show a list of disks)
  6. select disk 0(we select the disk with which we will work, if there are several disks, carefully select the one you need and enter the desired number instead of 0)
  7. clean(remove all sections)
  8. convert mbr(we convert our disk to the MBR format that Windows 7 and older systems understand)
  9. exit
