Installation of a siphon system for internal drainage GEBERIT PLUVIA

1 AREA OF USE

1 AREA OF USE

A typical technological map (TTK) was compiled for the installation of a GEBERIT PLUVIA internal drainage siphon system.

The TTK is intended to familiarize workers and engineering and technical workers with the rules for the production of work, as well as for the purpose of using it in the development of work production projects, construction organization projects, and other organizational and technological documentation.

The Geberit Pluvia siphon internal drainage system is widely used in the industrial and commercial sectors for roofs over 1000 m. , both with extensive and intensive landscaping. The application of Geberit Pluvia is especially effective in the design of factories, warehouses, shopping centers, airports, hotels, sports centers, etc.

2. GENERAL PROVISIONS

The system works on the principle of the siphon effect and uses the method of accurately calculating pipe diameters. A necessary condition for operation is 60-100% filling of the system, which is achieved by calculation on the computer program ProPlanner Pluvia.

Fig.1. The system consists of roof outlets, pipes and fittings made of Geberit HDPE, as well as an original steel fastening system.

A column of liquid falling in the riser creates a vacuum and entrains new portions of water from the roof. In this case, a significant vacuum is created at the receiving funnel, followed by a sharp increase in the performance of the entire system.

Thanks to its siphon action, Geberit Pluvia allows rainwater to be drained quickly and efficiently from large roofs with smaller pipe diameters compared to a traditional system. This does not require a slope in horizontal pipelines and temperature compensation. The system is mounted according to the principle of rigid embedding on anchor supports. Reducing the diameter and number of pipes and risers leads to a reduction in the volume and cost of construction and installation work. Geberit Pluvia is absolutely leak-tight due to the butt-welding of the pipes, takes up less building volume and has a self-cleaning effect due to the high flow rates. According to current building codes, with a roof slope of less than 1.5%, the estimated rainwater consumption for Moscow is 80 l/ha (q20). However, in view of the changing climate and the increase in rainfall intensity, Geberit recommends a value of 196 hp/ha (q5), with a roof slope of up to and above 1.5%. Based on this value, the Geberit Pluvia system was calculated and installed in large hypermarkets AUCHAN, METRO, MEGA-1 and other facilities. This system is confirmed by TU 4923-001-00284581-2004, approved by the Research Institute of Plumbing on November 25, 2004.

The operation of the Geberit Pluvia system is based on the vacuum siphon principle. It consists of roof outlets, Geberit HDPE pipes and fittings, a sophisticated fastening system and a professional support package from the manufacturer. Due to the siphon principle of operation, Geberit Pluvia ensures that water is quickly drained away without the need for pipe slopes. The high performance of the system allows the number of risers and outlets to be reduced as much as possible compared to a traditional system.

Thanks to its reliability and flexibility, the Geberit Pluvia system has been used by leading architects and engineers for many years in the design of the most significant objects.

Fig.2. The non-sloping horizontal piping of the Pluvia system makes it possible to reduce the space under the roof required for the system and to realize the most daring architectural and engineering solutions.

The Pluvia drainage system (translated from Latin as "rain") is based on the gravitational-vacuum principle. When the liquid column moves under the action of gravity, a rarefaction occurs, the maximum value of which is reached at the top of the riser. The vacuum is transmitted through a horizontal collector to the point of water entry - a receiving funnel. The siphon effect occurs due to the special design of the funnels and the accurate calculation of the diameters of the pipes, which contributes to the maximum filling with water. The principle of operation of the Pluvia system determines its advantages compared to the traditional system: a reduction in the diameter of pipes and the number of funnels, the absence of a slope of horizontal sections of the drain and pipes at the base of the building.

Pipes are connected by hot butt welding (in hard-to-reach places - with electrofusible couplings) and mounted using a large number of anchor supports without installing temperature compensators. Thus, the drainage system becomes completely sealed.

3. ORGANIZATION AND TECHNOLOGY OF WORK PERFORMANCE

The Geberit Pluvia system is fastened as follows:

- horizontal fastening - using the Pluvia fastening system;

- vertical fastening - using compensatory couplings;

- horizontal and vertical fastening - by means of rigid mounting.

The Geberit PluviaFix pipe fixing system has been specially developed for the installation of horizontal pipe sections of the Geberit Pluvia stormwater siphon system. The forces caused by temperature changes in the pipes are transferred to the anchor supports and then to the steel square profile (tire), which compensates for the resulting mechanical loads. The Geberit PluviaFix installation system guarantees fast installation, fewer fixing points to the roof, and the possibility of pre-assembly of individual components.

[~DESCRIPTION] =>

Funnels and accessoriesPluviafromGeberit- it is an integral part of the system of internal drainage of wastewater from the roofs of residential and industrial buildings. It is these elements that ensure the uninterrupted removal of melt and rain water from a flat roof, preventing the liquid from accumulating and stagnating, and thereby damaging the bituminous coating.

Funnels vary in capacity, which varies from 14 to 100 l / s. For small residential buildings in regions with a temperate climate, funnels with a capacity of 14 liters per second are selected. Dimensional industrial or residential buildings are equipped with funnels of more significant throughput from 60 to 100 liters per second.

Funnels are made from quality materials. Samples made of stainless steel, as well as polymers that can withstand the destructive action of moisture, are presented. Funnels are delivered assembled ready for installation.

Products vary by type of installation, which is important to consider when choosing samples. Funnels are offered for installation in a gutter, tray, on a waterproofing coating. The accompanying accessories simplify installation, and allow to perform works qualitatively and quickly. Protective elements prevent the destruction of funnels. The use of heat-resistant materials in production prevents deformation of the funnels and reduction in throughput.

Geberit Pluvia - Intelligent internal drainage system

Geberit Pluvia, the most common siphon indoor drainage system, has been used worldwide for 35 years.

Geberit Pluvia For modern architecture

Thanks to its reliability and flexibility in design, the Geberit Pluvia system has been the choice of engineers and architects for many years for the most significant and critical objects. Unlike gravity drainage systems, Geberit Pluvia is the solution for modern architecture. Due to the non-sloping horizontal piping of the Pluvia system, it is possible to reduce the space required for the system under the roof and to implement the most daring architectural and engineering solutions.

The widest range of applications for Geberit Pluvia

The Geberit Pluvia siphon internal drainage system is widely used in the industrial and commercial sectors for roofs over 1000 m 2 . The principle of operation and the high throughput of this gutter system allow it to be used in a wide variety of applications: flat roofs, domed and arched roofs of various curvatures, inverted and green roofs with both extensive and intensive greenery. Geberit Pluvia is particularly effective in projects such as factories, warehouses, shopping centres, airports, hotels, sports centres, etc.

Function Geberit Pluvia

The Pluvia drainage system (translated from Latin as "Rain") is based on the gravitational-vacuum principle. When the liquid column moves under the action of gravity, a rarefaction occurs, the maximum value of which is reached at the top of the riser. The vacuum is transmitted through a horizontal collector to the point of water entry - a receiving funnel. This siphon effect is due to the special design of the funnels and the exact calculation of the diameters of the pipes, for maximum filling with water. The principle of operation of the Pluvia system determines all its advantages compared to the traditional system: a reduction in the diameter of pipes and the number of funnels, the absence of a slope of horizontal sections of the drain and pipes at the base of the building.

  • Geberit Pluvia pipelines are designed to work with a completely filled section. This reduces the pipe diameter to the minimum required, which leads to a reduction in the cost of the entire system due to lower total material consumption and ease of installation of the system.

Self-cleaning pipelines

  • The high flow rate and complete filling of the pipeline section prevents the deposition of contaminants inside the pipes, which contributes to the self-cleaning of the system. As a result, time costs for maintenance and the risk of emergencies are reduced.

Fewer roof outlets

  • Thanks to the higher funnel capacity of the Geberit Pluvia siphon-vacuum system, the required number of funnels is reduced. The result is material savings, reduced labor, and architectural freedom in roof design.

No slope

  • Laying pipelines without a slope increases the freedom and efficiency of design. Since Geberit Pluvia horizontal pipelines do not require a slope when laying, the installation of a storm system does not lead to a loss of usable space in the serviced room

Fewer outlets and outlet risers

  • Due to the fact that the pipe section is filled entirely, the required number of discharge risers and outlets is reduced. The result: greater design flexibility as well as lower cost

Less underground pipelines and wells

  • Expensive network of underground pipelines is responsible or minimized, which inevitably affects the reduction of costs

High adaptability to various installation conditions

  • Simple and easy installation - the presence of a specially designed fixing system makes installation work as easy as possible. Allows prefabrication of piping structure nodes on the ground

Architectural freedom in design

  • A high degree of adaptability and freedom in designing various architectural solutions. The system is suitable for installation on roofs with different design features and anywhere in Russia

The Geberit Pluvia gutter system is based on the gravity-vacuum principle. Funnels Geberit have a special design, so that the pipes quickly fill with water and air pockets do not form in the pipeline.

Benefits of the Geberit Pluvia gutter system

The Geberit Pluvia gutter system offers several advantages over traditional gutter systems:

  • The number of Geberit funnels, risers and pipelines has been reduced;
  • Reduced pipe diameter
  • The slope of horizontal pipelines is not required;
  • There are no pipelines at the base of the building;
  • Reduced the number of releases from the building;
  • The system is self-cleaning;
  • Increased performance due to suction effect.

How the Geberit Pluvia gutter system works:

Fixing the Geberit Pluvia gutter system

The Geberit roof outlets and the downpipe are attached using a specially developed fixing system. The fastening system was developed for the horizontal sections of the Geberit Pluvia pipeline - the forces caused by temperature changes in the pipeline are transferred to the anchor supports, and then to the steel square profiles (tires), thanks to which the mechanical loads are compensated.

The use of this fastening system provides the following advantages:

  • Faster installation;
  • The number of attachment points to the roof is reduced;
  • Thermal expansions are controlled;
  • Individual nodes can be pre-assembled;
  • A universal bracket is used for sliding and anchor supports.

An installation example is shown in the image below:

RA - distances at which sliding bearings should be installed:

  • For pipes with diameters from 40 to 75 mm - every 0.8 m;
  • For pipes DN 90 mm - every 0.9 m;
  • For pipes DN 110 mm - every 1.1 m;
  • For pipes DN 125 mm - every 1.25 m;
  • For pipes DN 160 mm - every 1.6 m;
  • For pipes DN 200 mm - every 2.0 m;
  • For pipes DN 250 mm - every 1.7 m;
  • For pipes DN 315 mm - every 1.7 m.

The length of the support profile is 5 m and it is mounted along the entire length of the pipeline.

An example of attaching a drainage system to a concrete floor:

The order of installation of anchor supports:

  • At the beginning and at the end of the pipeline section;
  • On each of the tees or branches of the pipeline manifold;
  • Every 5 meters.

Two anchor supports should be installed on the tees - one in each direction of flow. Anchor supports can be mounted using electrofusion couplings, electrofusion tapes or double flange bushings.

Vertical installation of the Geberit Pluvia system

The distance between the sliding supports is indicated in the table:

Typical installation errors

Geberit specialists during their activities have collected the most common errors in the installation of a gutter system.

1. Incorrect selection of elements. For example, Geberit drains that are not suitable for a particular type of roof are often chosen. Also, sometimes changes are made to the design of the drainage system, and often such intervention is due to the fact that initially all the features of the project were not taken into account. Some installers themselves in such cases try to find solutions to the problems that have arisen directly on the construction site, for example, by installing non-standard components on the Geberit funnel.

2. Choosing the wrong fasteners - some installers choose fasteners without regard to the building structure. For example, if there are no necessary fixed supports, then the pipes may begin to vibrate, and if expansion joints are not used during vertical installation, then increased forces occur in the pipeline due to temperature changes, respectively, it is required to compensate for this by installing pipe clamps on studs with a large diameter (not less than 1/2ʺ). The force in places with such fastening is increased, and not all building structures can withstand it.

3. Some installers combine Geberit roof outlets on roof sections with a large height difference - more than 4 m. This is often done so that the final price of Geberit outlets is lower. However, such a solution can lead to the outflow of water through the Geberit funnels, which are located on the lower sections of the roof.

4. Connecting to one roof area over 5000 m2 - this mistake is usually made when they want to simplify the system.

5. Erroneously determined estimated rainwater flow. The reason for such an error can be many things, for example, inaccuracy in calculating the catchment area on complex roofs. Such errors can lead to unstable operation of the entire system as a whole and even roof flooding.

6. Incorrect installation. In general, any errors during installation become critical. So, incorrect installation of the elements of the Geberit funnel, defects in welds, sealing errors, etc. can destabilize the drainage system.

To avoid these and other errors when installing the Geberit Pluvia system, all recommendations of the manufacturer when installing the pipeline should be carefully followed.
