Wireless speakers JBL GO Black (JBLGOBLK) - Reviews. Review of the portable speaker JBL GO Portable speaker jbl go dns

You don't need to have electrical outlets nearby to listen to your favorite music through the speakers. The JBL Go portable mini-speaker is an ergonomic solution for fun outdoors or just for a walk accompanied by pleasant melodies. Our experts have prepared a review of the JBL Go model for those looking for quality mobile loudspeakers. Check out the key features of a trendy stand-alone speaker.

Unlike its already rather popular "brother" JBL Clip, the JBL GO portable music column has a rectangular shape. The dimensions of the device are 68.3 x 82.7 x 30.8 mm. The invention is aimed at young people.

The speaker is designed in a minimalist style and is available in several colors. Lovers of bright colors can choose a model in yellow, red, raspberry, orange. For those who prefer the classics, there are cases in gray, black, blue.

The body material has not changed - it is still plastic with a rubberized coating. This texture increases the strength of the case and reduces the risk of cracking if dropped. The front of the speaker is encased in a metal grill to protect the acoustics.

On the top of the panel are buttons for control and activation via Bluetooth.

On the right at the end, the user will find several connectors for connecting a microphone, audio cable, charger (micro-USB).

On the left there are grooves for the strap. But it is worth considering that the strap itself is not included in the kit. A small LED indicator notifies which mode the device is in.

In general, the design of the JBL Go model is not original. But, perhaps, the manufacturer this time relied on the simplicity and clarity of the lines.

Main characteristics

The JBL Go wireless speaker has the following features:

  • Wireless connection methods - Bluetooth (version 4.1).
  • Bluetooth profiles - A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP.
  • The total output power is 3 W.
  • The minimum frequency is 180 Hz.
  • The maximum frequency is 20,000 Hz.
  • The signal-to-noise ratio is 80 dB.
  • Powered by a battery (600 mAh).
  • The average battery life is 5 hours.
  • Weight - 130 g.

The kit includes documentation and a cable with a charger. The device has a simple translucent packaging.

Sound quality

Despite the miniature dimensions, the acoustics of the device are pleasantly surprising. The power of 3 W is enough for the music to be heard within a radius of 150 meters of open space. In a small room, a miniature gadget will be able to compete with the sound of computer wired speakers.

A big plus is that even at maximum volume there is no interference in the form of noise, wheezing, sound distortion. Special attention to the bass - for such a small speaker they are simply excellent.

You shouldn't hope to catch the subtlest notes of classical music or all shades of rock, but pop melodies sound pretty well from this "box".

Functionality

The micro-US 3.5mm jack allows you to connect your wireless speaker to any mobile device to play audio files. The column is compatible with all major gadgets (Samsung Galaxy, iPhone, MacBook), including Chinese smartphones. Pairing takes place in just a few seconds via handshaking.

The speaker can be used not only for music playback, but also for hands-free communication. The built-in microphone transmits speech to the interlocutor without interference. However, clear voice communication can only be counted on indoors. The lack of a squelch will prevent you from communicating outside, especially in windy weather.

If you buy a lanyard separately, you can hang the speaker around your neck or attach it to a bicycle, for example.

Autonomous work

Still, the main feature of the JBL Go speaker is mobility. The manufacturer claims that the device is capable of working for 5 hours without interruption. At the same time, the time for a full charge is not so much - only 1.5 hours. But the documentation does not indicate at what volume the speaker will last for the stated time. In fact (judging by consumer reviews), the model cannot withstand more than 3 hours of battery life at full volume. If the sound is played through a cable, then you can count on an additional 30-40 minutes.

But at an average volume, the speaker really works for all 5 hours.

Pros and cons of JBL Go

Any device has its own disadvantages and advantages. Let's find out what is good and not so good in the JBL Go model.

  • Stylish laconic design.
  • Stability.
  • Large color palette.
  • Quality housing with rubberized coating and metal grill.
  • Sound without interference.
  • Built-in microphone.
  • Hole for attaching the cord.
  • Ease of management.
  • The declared 5 hours does not work at maximum volume.
  • Suitable for listening in the best quality only to pop music.
  • No cord included.

However, it is worth noting that the main advantage of JBL audio systems is quality. Despite some drawbacks, the speaker promises to last a long time. Compared to competitive models, this speaker's case clearly wins in terms of durability and good build quality.

Outcome

Leading the review of the JBL Go column to the end, we can conclude that this is a quite worthy model for a fun time outdoors or gatherings with friends in the yard. Under such a speaker, you can hardly arrange a disco, you should not count on a powerful "quality". But the manufacturer does not make too loud promises. The portable speaker meets the declared qualities, and if used as intended, there will be no disappointments.

The audio system is sold in our market at a very reasonable price (from 1100 to 1500 rubles) and is quite affordable for young people. In addition, such a gadget can be a great gift for friends and family.

The compact JBL GO speaker is a portable wireless accessory that allows real music lovers to enjoy their favorite music.

Equipment

Both the functionality and the equipment of the JBL GO portable speaker are straightforward. The packaging in which the speaker is realized is made of Inside there is a bright orange microUSB cable and accompanying documentation for the accessory.

Many users in their reviews on GO noted that an additional advantage of the device would be that the manufacturer would add a lanyard to the kit for attaching the gadget to jeans or a backpack. The column is notable for its small size and portability, in connection with which such an innovation would be very useful.

Design

JBL uses colors aimed at a youth audience in its latest line of products. All colors are bright, rich, stylish and a little toy. The JBL GO column was not spared this fate - on sale you can find an accessory in black, gray, blue, yellow, red, pink, orange and turquoise shades. Unfortunately, there is no classic white color in the series of acoustic gadgets, but it is quite possible to live without it.

The owners of the device in their reviews of the JBL GO speaker note the soft keystrokes and their excellent response. The gadget control buttons are located on the top panel of the case and are flush with it. When pressed, they flex a little, which, judging by the reviews on the JBL GO, feels very pleasant under the fingers.

On the right panel there is a 3.5 mm audio input, a microphone hole and a microUSB connector for charging the speaker. Many music lovers, in their reviews of the JBL GO speaker, considered the lack of a cable with a mini-jack at both ends, designed to connect the speaker to a sound source, as a disadvantage. As a result, you have to buy it, which is not good.

There is a large enough loop on the left side of the cabinet to secure a lanyard to facilitate transportation of the speaker. The shape of the speaker case is rectangular, the corners are not smoothed in any way.

A non-standard approach to the appearance of the gadget during the period of popularity of rounded corners came to the liking of consumers: reviews on the JBL GO portable acoustics emphasize the organic nature of the design that is out of the trend. In the palm of your hand, the speaker looks more like a small Soft-Touch brick, the surface of which is very pleasant to feel under your fingers. The body is made of high quality materials, and not processed metal or glossy plastic, which is quite often found in Chinese counterparts.

The high-quality, strict and stylish performance of the column is brightened up by the ease and frivolity of the colors.

Technical information about the device is pushed aside on the underside of the case. It has no particular effect on the overall appearance, so you can ignore it.

The speaker, located on the front side of the speaker, is covered with a metal mesh, which many music lovers, judging by the reviews on JBL GO, found a very interesting solution.

Connecting the device

You can connect the speaker using a standard 3.5 mm cable or via Bluetooth. It makes no sense to save battery power by connecting the gadget via a wire: the operating time is practically the same. Data transmission version 4.1 states in advance that the power consumption of the acoustic device is very low.

A portable speaker can be connected to a new smartphone, tablet, computer, laptop very quickly and easily. There is no need to torment and rush around the device with a tambourine: on both devices, the visibility mode is turned on, and after 10-15 seconds a connection is established. The reviews on the JBL GO portable speaker say that to turn on the visibility mode, just press the Bluetooth key on the case once.

No communication breaks or errors were recorded during the operation of the device. The maximum distance to which the sound source can be removed is no more than 5 meters. The signal path should not be obstructed by walls or other wireless connections - in this case, the sound quality and communication will be ideal.

Periodic switching on and off of the column signals a low charge of the built-in battery. Battery discharge is also accompanied by a blinking red LED located on the front side of the case under the speaker's metal mesh. When music is playing, the LED is solid blue.

Handsfree

The portable speaker can be used as a Handsfree device. The main and only speaker reproduces the subscriber's speech, the voice of the owner of the gadget is recorded by a built-in microphone with noise canceling function. The voice is perfectly picked up by the microphone at a distance of 30 centimeters. It is possible to communicate at a greater distance from the speaker, but the speaker's voice will sound softer and quieter.

You can connect a speaker to only one sound source. Unfortunately, the gadget cannot work with two or more devices at the same time.

Sound quality

The sound power delivered by a 40 mm speaker is 3 W. It is quite enough to inform the whole street about your own musical preferences, as stated in the reviews on JBL GO. The reproduced music will also be perfectly heard in rooms ranging from 120 to 150 square meters.

A huge advantage is the absence of whistles, wheezing and other noise at maximum volume, which are usually accompanied by transducer voltage.

Music lovers in their reviews on JBL GO say that the speaker is perfect for reproducing simple to medium-complexity musical genres and styles.

Unfortunately, you shouldn't listen to dubstep, metal or hard rock in such a gadget: portable devices are not able to reproduce such genres.

Low frequencies can be heard when the speaker is placed on resonant surfaces. Of course, you should not expect normal bass from acoustics, but you can get something similar from JBL GO.

Autonomous work

The manufacturer claims that the speaker is capable of 5 hours of continuous music playback. The device is charged for 1.5 hours.

According to the reviews on JBL GO, one can judge that the maximum operating time of the speaker when connected to a sound source via Bluetooth at the maximum volume level is 2 hours 38 minutes. After this time, the connection breaks and the gadget turns off. After that, the speaker can play music through a cable, but the quality suffers greatly, and the audio playback time is very short.

The speaker is fully charged in 1 hour 39 minutes. The speaker is connected to a stationary computer or laptop using a USB cable. The charging time is significantly increased if the speaker is fed through the mains adapter.

The battery life declared by the manufacturer is confirmed only if the music is played at medium volume.

The cost of the new JBL GO speaker is 1990 rubles. The cost is slightly higher than the average price of such portable gadgets, however, it is worth paying for a bright design, a recognizable brand, functionality and good characteristics. The sound quality is maintained at a height, not inferior to many expensive analogs of acoustic devices from world famous brands, and significantly bypasses cheaper Chinese speaker models.

JBL Charge waterproof speaker

The JBL Charge column is one of the manufacturer's budget models, which has become a kind of bridge between Micro, Clip and JBL GO Black. Reviews on the columns of these models confirm their similarity in functionality.

For the average consumer and music lover, the Charge model will be the most attractive among the entire line of JBL portable acoustics. Other series have very dubious advantages noted in the reviews on the JBL GO Teal - carabiners or LEDs, while the Charge is more practical and has a voluminous battery that can be used to charge any other portable devices. JBL recently introduced a new, fourth model in the line of speakers - Charge 3.

  • Built-in rechargeable battery from which you can charge any other external devices via the USB connector.

Equipment

Everything is standard in the box for the Gharge 3 and resembles the JBL GO Black reviews: a bright orange power supply coupled with replaceable plugs and a microUSB cable. The case for this model is not required, thanks to the IPx7 protection technology.

Design

Early Charge models looked very much like beer cans. The design of the new Charge 3 is very similar to the JBL Xtreme.

Users in their reviews on GO Black jblgoblk note that all the company's products are available in bright and rich colors - black, red, gray, blue and turquoise.

In the center of the Charge column is the JBL logo, a little lower - a five-position charge level indicator, very convenient and bright. The charge level is easily determined, even if you look at the gadget from above - the glow of the indicator is reflected in the table surface.

The control keys are located symmetrically on the top panel. From right to left are the keys for pausing the song, increasing the volume, connecting via JBL Connect, turning on the device, decreasing the volume and connecting via Bluetooth.

All speaker connections are firmly sealed with a solid rubber plug. With careful use, it is unlikely that it will start leaking.

As in the previous model of speakers, the connectors are standard - microUSB, 3.5 mm audio output, USB port for charging other gadgets. The output amperes in the Charge speakers are quite high, for which we can say thanks to the manufacturer.

Passive radiators are located in recesses at the ends of the column. They do not let water through, like other elements.

The texture of the base of the gadget is embossed, the very bottom surface of a small area. You don't have to worry about the stability of the column - thanks to its weight, it is firmly held in one place.

In Charge 3, not only the charge indicator is illuminated, but also the power button: when synchronizing via Bluetooth, the blue LED is on, and when it is on, the standard white one. When the JBL Connect mode is running, the corresponding key is lit.

The manufacturer did its best to create an acoustic device with a unique and unusual design. The Charge 3 case is symmetrical, made of high-quality material with an original textile coating without unnecessary additions in the form of touch buttons. Some of the other speakers of the manufacturer outwardly strongly resemble this model.

Sound quality

The sound in comparison with the previous model has become more balanced, which is especially noticeable when listening to vocals in musical compositions: in many speaker models it comes out on top, while in Charge 3 it blends harmoniously with the ensemble. The openness of the sound characteristic of this series has remained unchanged - the main speakers look straight ahead, so there is no need to cheat with their installation.

The Charge 3 speakers can work with three different connection schemes. The acoustic device can be connected to the output of the computer's audio card via a cable for playing music, via a Bluetooth connection to any gadget, transferring tracks to it in high quality through any streaming service.

You should not refuse to use portable systems: the sound quality, depending on the specific type of connection, changes dramatically. The dynamics and sounds of individual instruments virtually disappear and overlap with vocals when connected via Bluetooth. Better quality tracks sound much better.

The Charge 3's JBL Connect mode allows you to synchronize multiple speakers from the same manufacturer at the same time. All devices can be connected via the JBL Connect app. Also, a portable speaker can be used as a wireless headset: this mode is very easy to turn on and, of course, very convenient when traveling or jogging.

Autonomous work

When connecting a portable speaker Charge via a Bluetooth connection, the device turned off 40 minutes before the time specified by the manufacturer, trying to save the last remaining battery charge. However, the column can work after being turned on again for a few more minutes.

If we compare the Charge 3 with the previous version of the same model, we can note an increase in the charging time of the device and a decrease in battery life. When the battery is low, the gadget no longer notifies the owner with sound signals, interrupting the playback of musical compositions - now only the red-lit charge indicator notifies about the battery discharge.

The Charge series, like the GO, is constantly being improved by JBL. Speaker design and sound quality remain a priority for the manufacturer. A distinctive feature of the portable acoustic devices Charge has become a high class of protection against moisture. As a result, JBL has created a versatile portable device that can be used at any time of the year without fear of failure.

I got this column for my grandmother. The speaker on the tablet broke down and she decided not to bother with repairs and just ask to buy her a speaker. In principle, for this money, there are not very many options: either noname from the basement or jbl. The choice is obvious, so we order. An hour later, I picked it up and decided to unpack it right in the car and listen to what this pot-bellied little thing can give out. A small disclaimer: I'm a bit of a music lover, so at home I am pleased with the Bowers & Wilkins audio system, computer games are voiced by thonet vander, and harman kordon plays in the car. Well, that is, it is not so easy to surprise me. But you will not believe, JBL could do it. Because the column was intended only for serials and rare conversations about skype, then the sound did not really excite me so much. But after listening to my favorite track Oscar and The Wol - Joaquim, I was very surprised. Funky tops. The instrumental just caresses the ears, you can't say otherwise. Averages are no worse by the way. I had no hopes for bass from the word at all, but even he tried to show himself and shake his own body. In general, the column for this ridiculous money is perfect. As soon as I accumulate bonus points, on the same day I will buy the same one for myself. I don’t know the truth why I need it, but let it be. Her sound is royal, not otherwise

Half of the summer has already passed, but the holiday season is only gaining momentum. It's time to think about not parting with your favorite music anywhere. This will help a miniature JBL GO speaker... Portable sound is everywhere: on the beach, fishing, or just cycling. Let's figure out what else is interesting this time offered by JBL.

The speaker package is simple, as, in fact, is the functionality of the device itself. Inside the transparent package, the future owner will find a bright orange Micro USB cable and accompanying documentation. That's all.

It would be nice if the manufacturer also put some brightly colored lace in the package for attaching the speaker to a backpack or jeans. Approximately what the reader can observe in the introductory image to this review... This would be quite a logical step, considering that we are dealing with a very portable device, and the name itself speaks of the adventurous nature of the gadget.

Design

The entire range of colors that JBL uses in their latest products is clearly aimed at a younger audience. Indeed, the speaker colors are bright, stylish and toy-like. Mi-mi-mishnoe mood is also present in the design of the hero of today's article. JBL GO is found in nature in blue, as well as black, gray, orange, pink, red, turquoise and yellow. Only the white shade has disappeared somewhere, but, of course, you can live without it and, moreover, very well.

The device control buttons are placed on the upper surface and are made flush with the body. They flex slightly when pressed and have excellent response.

On the right side there is a Micro USB connector for charging the device, a microphone hole and a 3.5 mm audio input. It is also strange that the gadget is not equipped with a cable with a mini-jack on both ends for wired connection of the speaker to the sound source. As a result, the user has to purchase such a wire, and this, by the way, is an additional hassle. Oh no no no!

On the left side there is an impressive loop for attaching a lanyard to carry the speaker. It is recessed into the body, each corner of which, by the way, is straight and not smoothed in any way.

Now the trend is to have slightly rounded corners wherever it can be applied. However, in the case of JBL GO, such an out-of-the-box approach to design looks very organic. In the hands of the column, it looks like such a brick, and together with the Soft-Touch surface, you get real pleasure from using the gadget. There is no that cheap gloss or plastic with a specially processed metal look, as is found in cheap Chinese crafts.

Everything is stylish, high quality, but at the same time frivolous and casual.

On the bottom, on the surface, various, uninteresting technical information regarding the product is pushed aside. It does not stand out from the general outline of the appearance.

On the front side, we see a metal mesh covering the speaker.

Connection and nuances of work

The gadget is connected in two ways: via Bluetooth or via a regular 3.5 cable from both ends. The operating time from the built-in battery in such cases does not differ much from each other, so it makes no sense to try to save power by connecting the device via a wire. Still, the data transfer version is 4.1, which means very low power consumption.

The process of connecting the speaker to a new sound source (smartphone, tablet, computer, etc.) is very quick and easy. No dancing in a tambourine: I turned on the visibility mode on both devices (single press of the Bluetooth key on the speaker) and after 10-15 seconds the connection will be established.

During the operation, no communication errors or accidental breaks were noticed. Keep the sound source nearby (up to about 5 meters), do not obstruct the signal path (walls, other wireless connections) and you will be fine.

If the column starts to turn off periodically and you have to turn it on again, then, most likely, this means a quick discharge of the built-in battery. By the way, this is also accompanied by a blinking red LED under the speaker's metal mesh on the front side. In playback mode, the indicator is solid blue.

Acoustics can also act as a Handsfree device. The subscriber's speech is heard from the main and only speaker, and the built-in noise canceling microphone is designed to capture the speaker's voice. The microphone perfectly picks up the voice at a distance of up to 30 centimeters. You can communicate at a greater distance from the speaker, but the caller will hear the voice worse.

By the way, the gadget is connected to only one sound source. Connecting to two or more devices at the same time is not about JBL GO.

Sound quality

The 40mm speaker delivers 3W of sound output. This is quite enough to inform the whole street about your presence, if the speaker is with you for a walk or while cycling. In addition, sound can fill an entire apartment (not even a room) with a footage ranging from 120 to 150 meters. I will not vouch for larger rooms, I haven’t tried it.

It is gratifying that at maximum volume there are no wheezing, whistling and other extraneous noises from the significant voltage of the converter.

The column is quite good for listening to simple to medium-complexity styles of music.

Hard rock, metal or dubstep is not worth listening to. Of course, you won't be able to hear all the juice of such compositions. In general, this is typical of any device belonging to the category of portable.

If you place the speaker on some flat, resonating surface (wooden shelf, parquet, etc.), you can hear something like low frequencies. Normal bass, of course, cannot be extracted, but JBL GO can still play a little.

Autonomous work

The manufacturer claims 1.5 hours of charging the device and 5 hours of continuous music playback. In what mode and with what settings is not specified. Perhaps it is worth supplementing this information with real recall about JBL GO.

At the maximum set volume, connected to a sound source (iMac 27 '') via Bluetooth, the speaker lasted 2 hours and 38 minutes. Further, the constant disconnections of the wireless connection began, which I already mentioned above. Probably, it could still play sound through a cable for some time, but in this case it is worth counting on any serious music playback time. We put the speaker on charge and wait 1 hour 39 minutes - the time that the gadget needs to fill the built-in battery with 100% charge. I charged using the supplied cable from the USB connector of a stationary computer. If you use an AC adapter with a current of about 2A, the charging speed will increase as expected.

If you set the volume to an average value, you can count on an indicator of autonomy close to that declared by the manufacturer.

Outcome

Now JBL GO can be bought for 1,990 rubles. The price is clearly slightly higher than the average amount that is usually given for such gadgets. However, there are devices on the market that are significantly cheaper than our acoustics (Chinese noname-crafts), and gizmos that are many times more expensive (products from Dr. Dre and other brands). The owner of the JBL GO receives a striking design and a recognizable name on the speaker cabinet. In terms of sound quality and loudness, our system still does not provide any obvious advantages.

Usually such devices are purchased as a gift. And what? It looks stylish, is relatively inexpensive, the brand is famous, it sounds good, and it will come in handy on the farm someday.

On the other hand, the speaker can also be purchased for yourself. Just recently, I saw a man aged 60+ riding a bicycle on the street, with a small portable acoustics fixed on the frame. Music sounds, and the cyclist calmly goes about his business. And you know, such a picture is inspiring. An environmentally friendly, free ride to work in fine weather can be additionally decorated with your favorite music. And then people turn around, smile and nod their heads respectfully.
