I say right away - I liked the smartphone. The Huawei P9 lite is a cool mid-range device (although the battery could have been better). As well as its older brother, the flagship Huawei P9 Plus, it is also an excellent device (I will finish the review on it in the next couple of days).

But now I will live up to the title of grumbler and grumble intensely. And the grunt applies to both devices equally, both to the P9 lite and to the P9 Plus.

Grunt

I do a lot of battery tests. One of them is using torrents. I install the µTorrent software, limit the download speed, set something to pump out, turn off the screen. Well, I look at how fast the battery is eating. Moreover, I conducted this test on many dozen of the most diverse android smartphones ...

As usual, I installed it, launched it, turned off the screen. After a few hours I look - but there is no problem. µTorrent is no longer listed as running. The process is dead. I started digging. I happily find out that Huawei has three (!) Places in the settings where it would be necessary to climb so that tasks do not die like this:

1) Settings - Advanced Settings - Battery Manager. Add the application to the list of protected ones, which are allowed to continue working after the smartphone goes into sleep mode.

2) Settings - Applications - Extras. settings - Ignore restrictions. I do not know what this means, but since people advise, I also put it up for µTorrent that, they say, everything is allowed to him.

3) This is not really a setting anymore. We press the button of the last running tasks, find the same long-suffering µTorrent in the same place, make a swipe down on it. A lock is drawn on the task. What this lock means, again, is not very clear ... But people advise ...

Total one-two-three. Tried it together, tried it separately. Nothing helps. µTorrent dies anyway. Sooner or later, one way or another, but dies. So this test could not be done.

The problem, of course, is not only the ill-fated µTorrent. Downloading torrents on a smartphone is exotic. It would be much less pleasant if all sorts of messengers and other Vkontakte were dying. They don't die, no. But sometimes, suddenly, notifications begin to arrive with a delay of several minutes. Or don't even come at all. Well, that is, they come immediately as soon as you turn on the screen of the device. It is difficult to grasp the patterns. Yesterday everything worked, today it stopped. If you recently used a smartphone, the beep from a new message will arrive instantly. If your smartphone has been idle for a couple of hours, most likely you will have to wait. Tricky energy saving?

On the day of aiming the marathon at the text of the review, in the morning I meditated on my smartphone for half an hour. He lay all night with the screen off. I can see on the router that it is registered to the Wi-Fi network. I send messages - silence. Half an hour later I turn on the screen - the messages come immediately.

Or here's another. No, I understand that processes are killable. You never know - the memory is over there or some other resources. But that they were killed with such special cynicism - I have not yet met. Okay P9 lite, it still has "only" 2 GB of RAM. But the P9 Plus! He has 4 GB! Launch the file manager, start the video, return to the file manager in an hour and find that it is no longer in memory. How is that?

In short, Huawei has an extremely malicious process and alert message killer. I tried to get clarification from Huawei tech support. They asked for IMEI numbers and firmware versions. And they fell silent. They have been silent for a week.

(For nerds. Power consumption mode - productive, constant data transfer is on, Wi-Fi in standby mode - too. What else can be tweaked in the settings - I don't know).

Price

The official price is 20 thousand rubles. In MediaMarkt - a thousand cheaper. In a number of small shops - another 500 rubles cheaper. From China, you can order the local variety of thousands for 16.

Competitors

There are not so many devices similar in parameters (screen diagonal, multi-core processors, a decent amount of RAM, comparable price).

Oddly enough, the main Baba Yaga was grown in her own team. The main competitor for the P9 lite, I would call the Huawei Honor 5C just presented on our market. In terms of characteristics, it is a complete twin (processor, screen, memory, battery), except that there is no finger sensor. But the body is metal. And it costs five thousand less. Selling, however, I suppose again will be small "waves" and everyone who wants it may not be enough ...

Equipment

Only the smartphone itself came to me, without the kit box. So there will be no traditional photography of earbuds-chargers.

Judging by the descriptions on the stores' websites, everything is standard. Charger, Micro-USB lanyard, headphones, paper clip to eject the card tray.

Appearance

The weight147 g
The size146.8 x 72.6 x 7.5 mm
ProtectionNo

White or black paint with a metallic gray frame. The back cover seems to be plastic. Excellent build quality. There is a light-emitting diode, though not bright.

Thin.

Android buttons are on-screen.

Tray for two Nano-SIM and one Micro-SD memory card, alas, combined. Either two SIM cards, or a SIM card and a memory card.

What else to say about appearance? Probably my favorite size. The very thing.

It seems to be all pretty smooth, but non-slip. It's nice.

Boring details and photos

Above the screen, as usual, there is a camera, speaker, sensors. A LED is hiding in the right corner.

There is a lonely logo under the screen.

Back. Above - a strip of glossy plastic. On it, in the corner, there is a camera and a flash.

The rest of the back surface is nice matte plastic, not smudging. On it - in the traditional place - a finger sensor.

Below is the logo and all sorts of inscriptions.

Top edge. 3.5mm audio output and noise canceling microphone.

Bottom edge. Micro-USB and loud speaker. There are two sets of speaker holes, to the right and left of the USB. But the sound only goes through one. The second is lime, made just for beauty.

On the right are the buttons. As usual, power-on-lock and volume rocker.

On the left is the card tray.

Fresh chipset of our own production. It seems like it belongs to the category of average. But, by and large, few people need more / faster. With performance - complete order.

RAM - good 2 GB. True, more than half is constantly spent on system needs.

Flash memory - 16 GB. If suddenly this is not enough for you, you can replace the built-in memory of your smartphone with a large memory card. But it's better to do it right away, when you first set up on your phone. Otherwise, you will get toys that have lost their data, screenshots that are now stored in a memory partition that is not accessible to third-party file managers. Etc. In short, there is little pleasure. But in general, if you plan to stage a lot of heavy programs (primarily toys), this, of course, makes sense. Bigger memory card and more reliable - and more.

Sensors. Accelerometer, compass, proximity, illumination. Well, and a fingerprint. Works well.

Communication with the outside world

From a pleasant one - LTE of the sixth category. Less pleasant - no 5 GHz Wi-Fi. And so - as usual, there is nothing to talk about in this section.

Screen

High-quality IPS-screen of high resolution. I have no complaints about him at all. And if you're not a creepy bore, you won't either.

No 2.5D. Everything is flat and even protected by a microscopic rim.

The margin of brightness is good. Oleophobic coating is present. There is even a mode of operation with gloves (enabled in the settings in the "Control" section).

You can play around with the color temperature - it's adjustable. Three standard values - 7000K ("Warm"), 8900K ("Default"), 10900K ("Cold"). And the "color wheel". The warm and cold point, by the way, is not at the boundaries of the circle, so the temperature spread is actually even greater than 7000-10900K.

Note that when the temperature shifts from "Default", you will lose a little in the maximum brightness of the screen. Not that much, a maximum of 15-20 percent. But you will.

Operating system and other software

There is no single list of applications, a somewhat unusual settings menu.

A little pre-installed left software (Dropbox, Shazam, Booking.com, Sberbank ...) Everything is quietly deleted.

Battery

Battery capacity - 3000 mAh. By today's standards, this is a typical average. The average battery test score is only 121% of my conventional benchmark. Not enough. I thought it would be better.

For comparison, the phablet Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) (5.5 "screen, 3300 mAh battery) had as much as 227%.

Introduction

The Huawei P9 smartphone was shown at the beginning of April this year in London. Interestingly, the well-known insider Evan Blass, shortly before the announcement of the P9, revealed some of the data on the device, moreover, he named the presentation date.

Our website has already published two materials about the flagship gadget from Huawei. Artyom was the first to get acquainted with the device, and Sergey wrote a small but informative text "A Day in Use". I just have to give you a little more detailed information and summarize what my colleagues said.

From my point of view, the Huawei P9 has one main unique feature - the presence of two cameras. Moreover, unlike, for example, LG G5 (there is one normal module, the other wide-angle), in P9 the meaning is different: the additional camera has a black-and-white sensor, it collects all the light, thereby increasing the dynamic range and sensitivity. In addition, thanks to the presence of the second module, it is possible to obtain an aperture from F0.95 to F16. Of course, this is achieved through software, but it works better than competing single-camera models.

The rest of the chips, it seems to me, are not so interesting to the end user: a powerful chipset, enough RAM for any applications, a good screen, and so on. In general, everything is like everyone else.

Price and when Huawei P9 will appear in Russia. The gadget will be available in several versions: 3 GB + 32 GB will cost 600 euros, and 4 GB + 64 GB - 650 euros. With the minimum configuration, the P9 goes beyond 45,000 rubles, and the maximum - for 48,000 rubles (current exchange rate). Official Russian prices are still unknown, the gadget should be expected in June. There will also be P9 Plus (4 GB + 64 GB), it has a more severe price tag - 750 euros, that is, about 55,000 rubles.

Design, dimensions, controls

The novelty from Huawei practically does not differ from their previous flagship smartphone: the same shapes, the same materials, the feeling when used. However, really, why change something radically, if many users who decide to replace their P8 with P9 will remain with the same operating experience. For example, my friend is so used to the old Apple iPhone 4S that she decided to buy the iPhone SE, despite my persuasions to take the "six" (my friend does not need supercameras and mega-performance of the device), since the display there is a little larger and it is more convenient to "consume" content.

The P9 gadget has a smooth body shape, currently fashionable 2.5D glass, and an ergonomic design. It fits perfectly in the hand due to the optimal, in my opinion, dimensions - 145x70.9x6.95 mm and due to the rounded edges.

As far as I remember, in the P8 the bezel substrate was pure white, in the P9 it has subtle transverse lines. The screen protects the glass from the fourth generation Corning - Gorilla Glass. Visually, it seems as if the gadget has no frames at all, however, when the display is activated, everything falls into place: on the right and left frames of 3 mm, which is also very good.

The oleophobic coating is naturally present. The finger glides on the screen perfectly, prints are easily erased.

The side edges and most of the rear surface are made of aluminum. Some elements are sanded. Frankly speaking, now you won't surprise anyone with such an appearance: every second Chinese smartphone is made of "iron" in a design similar to the Huawei P9.

This EVA-L09 is available in three colors: gold, gray and silver. There are also rose gold, white ceramics, smoky gold. They are unlikely to go on sale in Russia.

On the back there is a plastic insert with the inscription Leica Summarit ASPH. The design of the insert is similar to the design of the elements on the front panel.

Everything is fine with the assembly. However, the device does not have any removable parts (except for the sim card tray) that could play or creak.

On top of the front side are the front-facing camera, sensors, an indicator of missed events and a speech speaker. The speaker is loud, there is a margin, the interlocutor is heard clearly and legibly.

At the bottom there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a main microphone, USB Type-C and a speaker.

On the left there is a metal tray for installing a memory card and a sim card in nano format.

There are models with two sim cards - EVA-L19 and EVA-L29. On the right is a notched power button to make it easier to find, and a volume rocker.

At the top is a lone noise-canceling microphone.

On the back of the device: two cameras, two LED flashes of different glow tones, a laser focusing system and a fingerprint sensor just below (it works quickly, I think, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6).

Display

This device uses a 5.2-inch screen. The physical size is 64x114 mm, the frame at the top is 14 mm, at the bottom - 16 mm, on the right and left - about 3 mm each. There is an anti-reflective coating, which is quite effective.

The display resolution of the P9 from Huawei is FullHD, that is, 1920x1080 pixels, the aspect ratio is 16: 9, and the density is 423 pixels per inch. IPS matrix without air gap.

The maximum white brightness is 432 cd / m2, the maximum black brightness is 0.55 cd / m2, the contrast is 820: 1.

The matrix has not the highest brightness indicators, and the brightness of the black color is somewhat high, but the contrast is quite sufficient so that the screen is not too "blind" in the sun.

The brightness graph is within normal limits, the gamma is excellent around 2.13, judging by the color levels, there is an obvious dip in red, the temperature does not float and is about 8000 K. The obtained data exceeds the values of the sRGB triangle. This suggests that the colors will be saturated and very vibrant.

The Huawei P9 matrix has excellent performance, the only drawback is that the black values are somewhat overestimated, that is, the black color is not pure.

Battery

This model uses a 3000 mAh non-removable lithium polymer (Li-Pol) battery.

In my mode of operation, the gadget functioned for 1.5 days: an hour of calls, constant synchronization with Wi-Fi (every day from 9.00 to 01.00, Twitter, mail, Skype, Whatsapp), 4-6 hours of LTE. The glow of the screen in this mode is 4 hours.

With games, the situation is a little worse: the battery runs out after 3-4 hours of continuous "battle". The video device "spins" for about 7 hours (HD).

In the kit you will find a 2 A AC adapter. From the original: the device supports fast charging, so from 0 to 100% the battery is filled with energy in 1 hour 10 minutes.

Communication capabilities

The device works not only in 2G / 3G networks, but also in 4G CAT 6:

  • 4G TDD LTE: Band38 / 39/40
  • 4G FDD LTE: Band1 / 2/3/4/5/6/7/8/12/17/18/19/20/26/28
  • 3G UMTS: 800 (B6, Japan) / 800 (B19, Japan) / 850/900 / AWS / 1900 / 2100MHz (Band6 / 19/5/8/4/2/1)
  • 2G GSM: 850/900/1800 / 1900MHz

Huawei P9 has implemented the original "Signal + 2.0" function - a virtual triple antenna. The point is that there are several antennas built into the device. Depending on how you hold the phone in your hand, the antennas are switched to ensure the best communication quality. This is on "paper", but in practice I did not notice much difference, especially when compared with Samsung Galaxy S6, Meizu Pro 5/6 and other devices.

Another feature is "Wi-Fi + 2.0". The gadget automatically connects to the most stable and powerful Wi-Fi network (in terms of bandwidth).

There is also NFC here (it is absent in the L19 and L29 models), the rest is standard for any expensive Android smartphone: GPS and GLONASS, Wi-Fi b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 with OTG support.

Memory and memory card

The official website says that there are three modifications available:

  • EVA-L09. It is equipped with only one SIM card, inside 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory
  • EVA-L19. The device is equipped with two sim cards, inside also 3 + 32 (available in Russia)
  • EVA-L29. This gadget is the most sophisticated. It has two slots for sim cards, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of Flash memory.

As far as I understand, in versions with two sim cards, the slot is shared with a memory card.

Cameras

Finally we got to the most important and necessary section of the entire review. At least, it would be more interesting for me to get information about the cameras, since the other parameters and functions are plus or minus the same against the background of modern flagship smartphones.

What is revolutionary invented by Huawei and used in the P9?

Two cameras were installed in this model. This time, not for creating a stereo image or not quite correctly implemented background blur (let's say, not only this one), but for quite real things.

Let's start with the fact that both modules have the same 12 MP resolution (BSI CMOS Sony IMX286 matrix), F2.2 aperture, 27 mm viewing angle, 1.25 µm pixel size. If you look at the cameras, the right module is designed for shooting in color, and the left one - in monochrome. The point is that one module uses a black and white sensor. This is necessary to obtain the maximum amount of light. This provides the sensor with more dynamic range information and greater sensitivity. The second module fixes the color. Then the data from the two matrices are combined.

Also, two cameras are needed for more accurate focusing, despite the fact that there is both a laser autofocus and a standard slow contrast one.

Another application of the second module is to obtain frames with an aperture of F0.95! Yes, this is exactly the hole in the lens imitated by the P9. In fact, this is where software comes into play again. However, we must pay tribute to the Huawei programmers: this time the function works much more adequately than in any other device with software blurring of the background.

I think the cameras are partially sorted out. What about the Leica lettering?

Somehow it so happened that Huawei completely vaguely explained the essence of the appearance of the nameplate of the famous German company specializing in the production of optical systems and precision mechanical devices. It got to the point of absurdity: Huawei was accused of pure marketing and Leica had nothing to do with it. They did not wait for an answer for a long time - just the other day, a joint statement by Huawei and Leica about the P9 camera was published:

“Co-development is an integral part of the product and Leica's contributions include:

  • joint development, evaluation and optimization of optical lens design in accordance with Leica standards;
  • joint development of the design of the camera module to reduce the effect of scattered light ("the effect of ghosting and glare");
  • assessing image quality in terms of color reproduction / color fidelity, white balance, reduction of stray light (“ghosting and glare”), exposure precision, dynamic range, sharpness and noise performance;
  • image processing with Leica's many years of expertise in signal processing and optical systems;
  • Determining compliance with the most stringent Huawei batch production standards to ensure consistently high product quality. "

Now it became clear that it is not for nothing that Huawei mentions Leica in its product, that is, everything turned out like in a joke about spoons that were found, but the sediment remained ...

Now about the quality of the photos.

During the day, the frames are of excellent quality: accurate white balance, no artifacts, good detail. When the lighting level is lowered, the quality begins to decline sharply. There is noticeable monochrome noise, especially in bright areas, and detail is degraded.

In general, I cannot say that the P9 shoots better than the same G8 or P8. During the day, all the brave fellows, and at night they clearly lose to the main flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 or Apple iPhone 6S.

We should also note the very fast autofocus: in the daytime at the level of the Galaxy S7 - instantly, in the evening a little slower. In addition, focus is not only fast, but also very accurate: the camera is focused, even when several objects are located nearby.

To control the aperture, click on the corresponding icon. The hint tells you to shoot the subject at a distance of no more than two meters. Next, indicate the focus point and select the aperture value from 0.95 to 16. Naturally, all this is implemented in software. I have already said about the effect - the frame looks good, but quite often there are obvious "jambs" in the picture: either the blur is in the wrong place, then part of the object is out of focus, and so on. You can indulge in it, but it is unlikely to be used often.

In the settings (swipe from left to right), you can see the Leica proprietary font. Frankly speaking, if I had not read about him on the Internet, I would not even have understood what the joke is: well, all the words are capitalized, well, the drawing font ...

There are manual settings: focusing on a point, in the center and the whole frame; selectable ISO from 50 to 3200, shutter speeds from 1/4000 to 30 seconds; the exposure is adjusted, the focus is AF-S / AF-C or manual (just like in SLR cameras - set off!), the white balance is indicated.

The Huawei P9 smartphone can take frames in RAW (DNG) format. Writes frames only to internal memory. The files are approximately 15 MB to 30 MB in size.

As for the front camera, it takes good pictures. The angle is wide.

The device records video in FullHD resolution up to 60 frames per second. The quality is normal. Focus is accurate and fast. But you will really like the sound: it is clean, the stereo base is expanded, that is, you can hear every detail on the right or left.

Sample photos

Huawei P9 is one of the main flagships of the manufacturer, which not everyone can afford yet. It was created with the expectation of competing with eminent European and Korean flagships, and its younger modification Huawei P9 Lite received a compact body and a tasty price, which makes it the best solution for many.

The smartphone did not receive a dual module of the main camera, its filling is also rather close to average, but there is an excellent screen, full functionality of the EMUI shell and a fingerprint scanner. Let's conduct a Huawei P9 Lite review and you will be able to understand what will be better for you - pick up on the flagship or get a simplified version without delay.

Packaging Huawei P9 Lite

The package with the Huawei P9 Lite smartphone includes a charger, micro-USB cable, headphones and documentation.

Design

The Huawei P9 Lite review moves on to the design, which is interesting. Huawei equipment always looks worthy and the hero of our review was no exception. But unlike the older version, plastic is used as the main material.

There is a subtle striped pattern on the back and front panels, which makes the design more original. But if you remove the corporate logo on the front panel and put the screen in a locked state, you can easily confuse it with Xiaomi Redmi.

But the design of the back is more reminiscent of the older model P9 - it has a fingerprint scanner in the center, and on top we see a transparent insert with a built-in camera and flash.

When you pick up the phone in your hands, the expected effect of contact with cold metal does not occur, which, combined with the low weight, hints that in order to save money, the case received a plastic base. Only the frame is constructed of metal, which does not separate the plastic elements very neatly.

Huawei P9 Lite mini 2 black review showed that this does not affect the perception of the design in any way, the device looks really beautiful. The plastic is of high quality - it is not covered with prints, which makes it practical and has not received a single scratch during the testing.

The power key and volume rocker are installed on the right. They appear to be metal, but are actually made of plastic, just like the rest of the case. A place for them was allocated on the right end.

The microSD card tray is aligned with the second SIM card slot and is located on the left side.

Above, we see the traditional 3.5 headset jack, and it's very good that they did not abandon it. An additional microphone is also installed.

Huawei P9 Lite lte 16gb review informs you that the micro-USB port occupies the central place of the bottom panel. The main speaker and microphone were placed next to it.

The build quality is at the highest level, which is what you expect from a manufacturer of this level - the parts fit tightly in the case, do not creak or play, only the aforementioned side frame hints that the device belongs to the middle price category.

The smartphone is very convenient to use, the ergonomics are thought out to the smallest detail - the keys have a pleasant move and are located where you expect to see them. The same goes for the connectors. We didn't forget about the event indicator. Huawei P9 Lite dual sim review showed that due to its compact size and light weight, it is convenient to use it with one hand.

The keys here are on-screen, if desired, their functionality and location can be set in the settings at your discretion. The scanner can be used not only to restrict access to the phone, but also to go to the notification shade, the camera and flip through the photos.

Display

Huawei P9 Lite 2017 vns l21 review moves to a 5.2-inch display built on IPS technology. It received FullHD resolution and is covered with a flat protective glass, which received a good quality oleophobic coating. And for maximum protection, the plastic collar protrudes slightly from the rest of the case, which will save the screen if it falls.

The display of the P9 Lit is surrounded by thin bezels, which against a dark background completely cease to be noticeable. Thanks to this, the device should look great in any color scheme of the case.

The factory calibration of the screen is far from the reference one - the color temperature is clearly overestimated, so after the first power-up I want to go to the settings and set my parameters there, which fortunately can be done.

Huawei P9 Lite lte dual sim review showed that the brightness level of the screen can be set in the range from 5 to 411 cd / m², and the contrast ratio is 1 to 781. The picture is easy to read on the street, the screen turned out to be no worse or better than the price competitors ... Among the additional features, I would like to note the ability to operate with gloves, which is very useful during cold weather.

Performance Huawei P9 Lite

Huawei P9 Lite specifications are built on the Kirin 650 processor of its own production, built according to the 16-NM process technology. It consists of a pair of clusters, each of which has 4 Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency limit of 2 and 1.7 GHz. Responsible for the graphics is the Mali T830 MP2 video accelerator.

Compared to the Kirin 620, we have a 60% increase in the CPU and 100% in the GPU, which is very impressive. The new i5 coprocessor deserves special mention, which collects and processes data from all sensors of the device. He received an increase in productivity, but at the same time began to consume less energy.

Synthetics:

The specifications of the Huawei P9 Lite assume only 2GB of RAM combined with 16GB of user memory, of which 10.5GB remains for use. In 2017, this volume will not be enough for most users, in connection with which it is worth thinking about purchasing a microSD card. But for the sake of increasing the amount of space, you will have to sacrifice a second SIM card. The micro-USB port does not support the ability to connect external devices via OTG.

Huawei P9 Lite gold 2 16gb review showed that, according to the results of synthetic tests, the Kirin 650 is comparable to another mid-range Helio P10 chip from MediaTek. Kirin is slightly superior in terms of graphics, otherwise we see the same result.

In terms of performance, the smartphone is average - it will handle most games, but at the maximum graph the fps will be average and the impressions will not be the same. Tanks can still be played on high graphics, but in more demanding games we see no more than 30 fps. There are no brakes and delays, this is good news.

Autonomy

The Huawei P9 Lite phone review goes to its 3,000mAh battery. The manufacturer promised to improve power consumption when developing a new chip, and after testing, we can say with confidence that it succeeded. Compared to the P8 lite, it has become much more resilient under the same test modes. But at the same time, it can be called a long-liver at the same time with a big stretch, because with active use, it barely survives until the evening.

When reading at the minimum comfortable brightness level, the autonomy lasted for 14.5 hours. Huawei P9 Lite 16GB review found that continuous video playback landed the phone at half brightness in 10 hours. In games, he lasted a little over 4 hours.

Interface

Smartphone Huawei P9 Lite 2 black review demonstrates that it uses the proprietary shell Emotion UI 4.1, based on the 6 version of Android. Its distinctive features include the ability to control gestures and a virtual key, when pressed, a radial menu is displayed. It is very convenient when operating with one hand, you can immediately see the main functions in front of you. You can choose from thousands of available skins and switch to a simplified desktop display mode. The assignment of the function keys can be changed at your discretion.

Huawei P9 Lite review showed that current events are displayed on the upper curtain. It is divided into several menus, when swiping to the second, we see shortcut icons to many functions, and even more of them will be if you slide your finger from the bottom up.

Wireless interfaces

Smartphone Huawei P9 Lite 16gb review makes it clear that to expand the amount of internal memory, you have to sacrifice a second SIM card. If you need two, then you won't be able to increase the volume, there is no separate slot for microSD. The device works great in all types of cellular communications, including LTE. It quickly connects to the network and does not lose connection, ensuring the constant availability of the subscriber. We are also pleased with the work of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Huawei P9 Lite camera review

If the development of the Huawei P9 camera was carried out jointly with Leica, then there is nothing like this. The phone received a 13 megapixel main camera and an 8 megapixel front camera. The latter does not shoot perfect, but in good lighting it can take amazing selfies. Huawei P9 Lite camera review showed that the front camera was not equipped with an LED flash, but instead, when shooting in low light, the backlight of the screen itself is used. It turns on a moment before shooting.

As the main camera, a Sony IMX214 module with an aperture of f / 2.0 is used, in addition to which there is a bright flash. Autofocus works flawlessly - everything is fast and clear.

The interface of the Camera application contains so many settings and shooting modes that you can easily get lost in them. But all menu items are built logically, the interface is easy to use. With a gesture on the left, you can display the available shooting modes, on the right - camera parameters. Below is a menu for those who like to experiment with manual shooting settings. Huawei P9 Lite review in Russian showed that you can set the white balance, ISO, shutter speed, focus control and much more.

Sample photo:

Video shooting can be carried out in FullHD resolution with 30 fps, which the manufacturer rather went for on purpose, leaving 4K only in its flagships. Slow motion recording is possible in 720p resolution at 120 fps.

There is stabilization here, but when shooting on the go, it practically does not play any role. In terms of quality, we have well-detailed videos, but the overall impression is spoiled by small jams and speed drops. The suppression system well dampens extraneous noise, providing high quality sound when recording.

The general verdict is that the camera is usable and is approximately on par with its competitors. In some places, traces of software processing are visible, due to which detail is lost in some frames. The main disappointment was the areas of sharpness at the edges of the picture, but you don't remember about them when shooting at a short distance.

Output

Huawei P9 Lite dual sim black review has come to an end and it's time to sum up. It has already become a habit for us that gadgets from China are much cheaper than their European competitors with identical characteristics. But the Huawei brand managed to break through to the world level, which is why the cost of its devices is gradually increasing and is already an order of magnitude higher than Chinese competitors.

Huawei P9 Lite has become a pleasant exception to the rule, because for $ 182 we are offered a device with a fingerprint scanner, FullHD display and good performance. What they regretted was the amount of RAM and built-in memory, they are really not enough here.

Where can I buy?

Your rating for a smartphone:

I remember that P8 Lite sounded ... not that bad, but not remarkable at all - an ordinary mobile phone at the junction of the budget and middle class. "Nine" sounds more expressive, because the clarity and volume in this model is slightly higher than that of its predecessor. The sound has accumulated the smallest middle frequencies and prevailing highs - music overloaded with details sounds recognizable, but not very clear. But less dramatic tracks, both in terms of volume and correctness, are reproduced much better than you expect from a thin model with metal inserts. The smartphone sounds about the same as the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016, slightly better than the Meizu MX5, and much better than the ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML, LG Nexus 5X or Sony Xperia M5.

In headphones, the sound is a cross between the implementation of audio in popular competitors' chips - that is, the sound is cleaner and more voluminous than in smartphones running MediaTek MT6752 / 6753 / Helio X10 / P10 (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Meizu M2 Note, Sony Xperia C5 Ultra), but still less detailed than the successful representatives based on Snapdragon 615/652 (LG G5 SE, HTC One A9).

The maximum volume is slightly above the average level, the study is on a solid "four". This is when it comes to browsers and applications. The standard audio player has the ability to turn on the SWS (Super Wide Sound) function - it really ennobles the sound, adds bass and volume to the music. Only now it is "blown away", is it worth raising the volume above 50% of the maximum - hearing protection, or would an audio chip beyond this line begin to disgrace under the load of additional "boost"?

Iron

The hardware in Huawei P9 Lite is difficult to assess unequivocally. On the one hand, there is a modern economical (16-nm FinFET process technology, comrades), "cold" chip with the same energy-efficient Mali-T830 graphics. The Cortex-A53 cores cannot be called new, but the equally advanced Snapdragon 625 never made it to the conveyor, and processors of a similar design are divided into low-power (Snapdragon 615/616/617 / Exyno 7580), and 28-nm "ovens" - MediaTek Helio X10 / Turbo or Snapdragon 808.

Huawei P9 Lite was officially announced in spring 2016. This smartphone is a lite version of the famous flagship P9. This device has somewhat lost in terms of power relative to its older brother, but has successfully retained the overall design and some unique features.

Appearance and ergonomics

Textured matte plastic adorns the back of the Huawei P9 Lite, which looks very stylish. There is a side metal frame. In this case, all corners of the body are rounded, and the edges are beveled. The smartphone is thin and attractive, but the appearance is somewhat spoiled by the translucent insert on the back, which is why it is glossy here. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back, it is realized in the shape of a square. The memory card slot is traditionally combined with the second SIM, and the volume buttons are made of plastic. The device does not tire the hand at all, it is really pleasant to use it. Moreover, thanks to excellent ergonomics and compact size, the gadget will fit in any palm. P9 Lite dimensions: height - 146.8 mm, thickness - 7.5 mm, width - 72.6 mm, weight - 147 g. Color - silver, gold, black and white.

Display

The smartphone has got a 5.2-inch screen of optimal dimensions. The viewing angles of this IPS matrix are very good, and the Full HD resolution only adds to the believability. The picture is rich and moderately juicy. But the brightness is a little lacking, especially in the sun. Such a display is covered with 2.5D glass, which looks really impressive.

Iron and performance

Since the P9 Lite seems to be a mid-range device, the processor is also appropriate here. We are talking about the Kirin 650 chip, which is made using the latest 16nm process technology. The processor with eight cores can overclock up to 2000 MHz, and the Mali-T830 MP2 video chip is designed to accelerate the graphics. The standard set includes 2 GB of RAM, as well as 16 GB of internal storage. Expandable memory up to 128 GB with microSD cards. It actively uses the advantages of the EMUI 4.1 shell and the Android 6.0 operating system.

Thanks to the modern stuffing, slowdowns in the work of the smartphone are not felt. At the same time, Huawei P9 Lite in the AnTuTu test is gaining about 53,000 points. In games, certain problems can only be observed in very demanding projects. If you lower the graphics level a little, then even the coolest toys will go perfectly smoothly.

Communication and sound

In Huawei P9 Lite, the speakers sound amazingly high quality. The melodies have become not only clearer, but also louder. The situation is similar with listening to music through headphones. And with the equalizer, you can easily boost bass or volume. The gadget supports standard networks as well as LTE Cat 4.

Camera

The P9 Lite is equipped with a 13 megapixel camera. The user will be able to find many shooting modes, where there are even professional tools. A good level of detail in the photo is complemented by good color reproduction. Extremely fast focusing instantly finds the subject in the frame. The device has a flash, but at night the pictures are somewhat noisy. With the capabilities of the 8MP front camera, you can always experiment with self-portraits.

conclusions

What does a user get for 20,000 rubles? A solid middle peasant with big ambitions. P9 Lights is supplied with a charging block, instructions and a micro-USB cable, as well as a branded headset. The smartphone has successfully preserved the wonderful design of the flagship, and also got, though not powerful, but modern hardware, which makes the device work fast enough.

Pros:

  • Fast fingerprint scanner.
  • Juicy screen.
  • Attractive appearance.
  • Great sound.
  • A beautiful shell.

Minuses:

  • There are problems with night shooting.
  • Little memory.
