If water or other liquids are splashed on the laptop screen, it is recommended to remove them as soon as possible. Otherwise, when they dry, they will leave noticeable and persistent stains on the laptop screen.
Most often, splashes of various liquids fall on the screen when we eat food, including various drinks, while working on a laptop. Especially often laptops and, especially, their screens get dirty if you talk on Skype, chew something or drink drinks at the same time, and talk what is called "on the screen", since the webcam and microphone built into the laptop are usually placed directly above the laptop screen.
It is unacceptable to use abrasive cleaning materials for cleaning laptop screens, which can leave noticeable scratches and abrasions on the surface of the matrix.

Paper and paper napkins. The paper is not suitable for the care of LCD monitors, but it perfectly cleans the screens of phones and tablets, albeit only if they are made of Gorilla Glass. If the screen has a plastic coating, the paper can leave scratches.
Cotton wool and cotton pads. Like paper, it is only suitable for cleaning glass screens of tablets and phones. Micro-scratches can be left on the plastic.
Wet wipes for screen care. Not the cheapest, but the easiest option. Such wipes do not scratch the surface, and their impregnation does not leave streaks. However, be careful when choosing wet wipes and do not buy cheap ones, as they contain alcohol, which can corrode the plastic covering of the screen. Remember that wet wipes for appliances dry out quickly, so prefer those with each wipes individually packaged in an airtight sachet.
A scouring sponge or foam sponge. It is categorically impossible to use to care for the screen, especially the same one with which you have already washed the dishes! The sponge absorbs dust and scratches the screen, especially the rough side. Never use a melamine sponge to clean the monitor - this will leave deep scratches on the plastic!
Synthetic napkin. Not suitable for cleaning the plastic cover of screens as it leaves scratches. In addition, it attracts dust very strongly.
Microfiber. The best material for screen care. Microfiber cleans both glass and plastic well without scratching them. But microfiber microfiber is different: microfiber cloths intended for cleaning are not suitable for cleaning the monitor. But microfiber for glasses and optics is also suitable for cleaning LCD screens.
Cotton napkin. Oddly enough, not the best choice. Cotton fibers are quite coarse in structure, which will cause the screen coating to scratch and look worn over time. In addition, the nap of the cotton napkin will stick to the screen, and completely removing it is not an easy task. But if you nevertheless decide to use a napkin made of natural material to wipe the monitor, then always moisten it in a special detergent or in distilled water before the procedure.
In addition to the material, you will also need a liquid for cleaning the monitor. You can buy it at the store (make sure it is alcohol-free) or you can make it yourself.
First, you need a base for the solution - water. You will need to use distilled water that is free of salts and minerals that can scratch the screen. No other water - neither mineral nor tap water - will do.
Secondly, you will need to add a cleaning component to the water. Ideally, this is grape vinegar, which is diluted with water in a 1: 1 ratio. However, even adding more vinegar will not ruin your monitor.
If you don't have grape vinegar, add isopropyl alcohol or vodka in the same proportions. But remember that such a product cannot be used all the time, as alcohol will corrode the monitor's coating.
You can also find on the Internet that instead of a cleaning component, you can take shavings of baby soap and dissolve it in water, but such a composition is ineffective for cleaning screens, since soap stains remain after it.
And never add ammonia-containing substances, such as window cleaner, to the homemade liquid as a cleaning component! Ammonia can react with the screen coating, causing whitish spots to appear on the screen.
So, you have a cloth and a monitor cleaner. What to do next? Just follow the steps in our instructions.
1. Power off the monitor. Do not wipe the monitor when it is turned on: this way you will not only hardly see dust and dirt, but also risk getting an electric shock.
2. Wipe the entire monitor except the screen with a separate tissue.
3. Wipe the monitor screen with a dry cloth, using almost no pressure on it. If you have a cotton towel, slightly dampen it with distilled water.
4. If dust has accumulated in the corners of the screen, do not try to reach it with your fingernail or needle, as this will ruin the coating. To remove dust from the corners of the screen, use a syringe and blow out all the dust.
5. Apply the cleaning solution to a cloth (not the monitor!). If you have applied a lot of solution, wring out the tissue.
6. Using light circular motions, wipe the screen with a tissue. Do not scrub the stains, but rather let the detergent dissolve them, then wipe the heavily soiled areas again.
7. Wipe the screen with a dry cloth.
Cleaning a glossy screen in the sequence of actions does not differ from cleaning a matte one, but there are a few subtleties that should be taken into account.
Firstly, it is undesirable to wipe the glossy screen with a dry cloth, even if it is a high-quality microfiber cloth, because such a coating is very easy to scratch.
Secondly, do not forget to wash the cloth every time after use, as dust accumulates in it during cleaning. If you just shake off the napkin, then some of this dust will remain in the fibers and will scratch the screen.
Third, wipe the glossy screen not in circular motions, but in one direction horizontally or vertically.
And fourthly, after cleaning, the glossy screen does not need to be wiped off with a dry cloth. Just wait for it to dry.
The touch screen can be cleaned in the same way as an LCD screen, but without using any household chemicals (except specially designed ones), especially those containing alcohol or bleach. The fact is that most touch screens have an oleophobic coating, that is, repulsive to fats. Therefore, fingerprints can be easily wiped off with a regular microfiber cloth.
If there are splashes, streaks or other stubborn stains on the touchscreen, they can be wiped off with a microfiber cloth soaked in distilled water. Just do not wet the napkin too much: if moisture gets inside your gadget, it can break.

4. Napkins and microfibre cloths. They not only gently remove dust from LCD screens, but also contain special fibers that allow you to remove some bacteria.
5. Special brushes with very soft bristles for removing dust. Of course, they are less effective than the same napkins, but they are reusable.
Now, let's look at two common methods for wiping a laptop or computer screen. Of course, there are more of them, but these are some of the most common.
Note: Be sure to read the cleaning products or wiping packaging labels as they may have specific cleaning instructions.
This option will suit almost everyone. You will need:
1. Two bowls. One with warm water. The second is with soapy water. Baby soap should be used, as it practically does not contain harmful chemicals. It also has a milder alkaline environment than usual.
2. Cotton pads and microfibre rags. You can only do with microfiber rags.
The process of cleaning the laptop screen itself:
1. Use gentle movements to remove dust from the screen. This step must be done with dry rags or discs (you can use a brush with a very soft bristle). The bottom line is that otherwise any dispersed particles can get stuck in the fabric when wiped.

4. Take another cloth and slightly dampen it. Wipe the screen.
5. Now, use a dry cleaning cloth to wipe up any remaining liquid.
Note: Be sure to keep an eye on the amount of moisture, as water that has rolled down may seep inside.
Note: Turn on your laptop or monitor only after the screen is completely dry.
