        HDMI connection

        To make a connection via HDMI, you only need one thing - a cable with HDMI inputs on both ends. It looks something like what is shown in Figure 1.

        After this, one input is connected to the HDMI connector of the computer, and the other to the TV connector. Almost all TVs that have come out in the last 5 years have such a connector. True, in most cases there will be several of them. Each of them has its own number. It can be seen right next to the connector. In Figure 2, the numbers are highlighted with arrows.

        The same modern TVs have VGA connectors. Most often, each TV has only one such connector, so it is impossible to mix it up. The connection menu on the TV is the same.

        It also happens that the TV does not have a VGA connector, but only has HDMI, or vice versa. Although the second is much less common. In any case, the solution to this problem is to buy a cable that has an HDMI input on one end and a VGA input on the other.

        It is connected to the corresponding connectors of the laptop and TV, after which the picture source is selected on the TV in the same menu. This cable looks something like what is shown in Figure 7.

        Usually it is also configured automatically. As a last resort, you can go to “Screen Resolution” and select all the necessary parameters there.

        Through the tulip

        Tulip is a rather old type of cable, with which TVs were previously connected to tuners and players. But even today you can try to connect a TV to a laptop via a tulip. The S-Video interface can also be classified as a “dinosaur”. In this case, there can be simply a huge number of connection options - from HDMI or VGA to S-Video or Tulip and vice versa.

        There are many adapters that perform this simple task. For example, in Figure 8.a you can see an adapter from VGA to one tulip input (exactly the one needed for a TV) and S-Video. Figure No. 8.b shows the same option, only in the form of the plugs themselves, and not in one block.

        The most convenient adapter today is the one shown in Figure 8.c. There are three tulip inputs and one for S-Video, and at the other end there is an HDMI input. The last option has the best chance of making money on any, even not very new, TV.

        Actually, if your TV doesn’t have connectors for HDMI and VGA, the tulip option looks ideal. To connect, you will need the tulip cable itself and one of the adapters presented above.

        This option is somewhat more complicated than the previous ones. But for the user, in principle, everything is the same - there is a cable, there are connectors, it is possible to connect two devices via an adapter. True, here we are talking about a USB-HDMI adapter. Yes, there are also regular cables with USB inputs at both ends. But they most likely will not work when connecting a computer to a TV.

        Therefore, to connect your TV via USB, it is better to purchase a USB-HDMI adapter.       • The adapter itself may look as shown in Figure 9. The option with miniUSB is shown there. This option is also suitable if the computer has the appropriate connector. Please note that the adapter only has an HDMI connector, so when using this option you will still have to buy a regular HDMI-to-HDMI cable.

        By the way, you can experiment with such an adapter and try to connect it to your smartphone via the miniUSB input.

        Via WiFi

        There are two ways here. We will look at all of them so that everyone can choose what they can accomplish.

        Connection via DLNA server

        This all sounds quite scary, but in reality it is not so. The main question is how to synchronize the operation of the TV and laptop using a DLNA server.

        And this is done as follows:

      • Connect your computer and TV to the same Wi-Fi source. If it's a router, connect both devices to it.
      • Go to “My Computer” (“This Computer”, “Computer” depending on the version of the operating system). Click "Network" in the menu on the left.
      • A line will appear at the top stating that file sharing is not currently enabled. You need to left-click on it once.
      • A drop-down menu will appear, in it you need to select the first item - “Enable...”.

        An example of such a device is Google Chromecast. It is intended only for streaming video from a computer to a TV. It does not transfer files.
