How to enable safe mode on a laptop. How to start safe mode on an Acer laptop Windows 7 safe mode on a Samsung laptop

Apparently there are problems in your Windows 10, since you want to run it in safe mode to find a solution.

Windows 10 will soon be on millions of computers and laptops around the world. In it, as in all other operating systems, errors are inevitable.

If it fails, you can start the system with only a basic set of programs, services and drivers, which allows you to remove viruses or incompatible drivers.

There are several ways to enter safe mode on Windows 10, depending on whether the system is running or not.

Generally speaking, loading safe mode was a little easier on older OSes.

Microsoft employees decided to remove some things, disable some things, apparently to increase the download speed, which they constantly insisted on.

However, most features can be returned. With this, let's start starting Windows 10 in safe mode.

The easiest option to start Windows 10 safe mode is method one.

It doesn’t matter at all whether the computer is now you have a computer or a laptop from hp, acer aspire, asus, samsung and so on.

On all PCs with Windows 10 installed, the function described here is disabled by default.

What is it? Once you enable it, you can almost instantly enter safe mode when you start your computer or laptop.

You just need to turn on the PC startup and hold down the F8 key while starting. To do this, just perform a simple operation.

It is performed via the command line. So, with administrator rights, enter the command below and press enter. Here's the command:

Bcdedit /set (default) bootmenupolicy legacy

After that, you should see a message like below in the picture that the operation was completed successfully.

Now, when you turn on your laptop or computer, simply press or hold the F8 key. After this, you will be given several startup modes, including safe, like the one below in the image.

How to get into safe mode on windows 10 - method two

This option, like the first, requires that the system be booted. Next, you will need to go to system settings.

To do this, you need (you can also search) to enter the command – msconfig – and click “OK”.

Then a new window will appear, larger, and in it the “boot” tab and the line “safe mode”

As you can see in the picture above, check the box, click “apply” and confirm by clicking “OK”.

After this, the system will ask you whether to reboot now. A positive response will cause a transition to safe mode.

How to force safe mode on Windows 10 - method three

Most people are probably looking for the option described in this section. Why? Because you will find the two described above on many sites.

Both of them apply to the case when Windows 10 has already been downloaded. Then, however, you can somehow correct errors without safe mode.

Only the problem of turning on safe mode also arises when it is impossible to turn on the computer at all and the keys cannot help.

We rush to find which key can turn on safe mode, but it turns out there isn’t one.

You will be advised to go to a friend, create a recovery disk and run this thing through him.

Yes, it’s 12 o’clock at night, or a friend lives a kilometer away, and you go to wake him up and ask - you need it now, and if he were kind, Microsoft took and removed such a useful mode.

Don’t be sad, you don’t need any disks, now you can switch to secure boot.

To start it you need to unsuccessfully start your computer or laptop three times. How to do it.

The easiest option is to force it to turn off. As it is already your business. You can just turn off the power.

We started it up, waited a minute until the PC was helplessly trying to turn on or the logo just appeared - we turned off the power. Connect the power and repeat the operation.

The fourth time you will be able to enter not only safe mode, but also other boot options. Good luck.

“Safe Mode” implies a limited boot of Windows, for example, starting without network drivers. In this mode you can try to fix problems. You can also work fully in some programs, but downloading or installing anything on your computer in safe mode is strictly not recommended, as this can lead to serious failures.

“Safe Mode” is needed solely to solve problems within the system, so it is not suitable for constant work with the OS (editing any documents, etc.). “Safe Mode” is a simplified version of the OS with everything you need. It does not have to be launched from the BIOS; for example, if you are working on the system and notice any problems with it, you can try to log in using "Command line". In this case, you do not need to restart your computer.

If you cannot enter the operating system or have already exited it, then it is better to actually try to enter through the BIOS, as this will be safer.

Method 1: Boot Keyboard Combination

This method is the simplest and most proven. To do this, you will need to restart your computer and, before the operating system starts loading, press the key F8 or combination Shift+F8. Then a menu should appear asking you to select an OS boot option. In addition to the usual one, you can choose several types of safe mode.

Sometimes a shortcut key combination may not work because it is disabled by the system itself. In some cases, it can be connected, but to do this you will need to log in to the system normally.

Use the following step-by-step instructions:

It's worth remembering that some motherboards and BIOS versions do not support entering Safe Mode using key combinations during boot (although this is very rare).

Method 2: Boot disk

This method is much more complicated than the previous one, but it guarantees results. To complete this, you will need Windows Installer media. First you need to insert the USB flash drive and restart the computer.

If after a reboot the Windows Setup Wizard does not appear, it means you need to distribute boot priorities in the BIOS.

What is safe mode in Windows 10 and how to get into it if the operating system does not boot? If you're having problems booting Windows 10 (or 8.x), you can't use the usual "lifeline" that Windows 7 provides - using the F8 key during computer startup to access additional boot options. In particular, in this way in the seventh version you can get into safe mode and try to solve the problem using standard means. For example, if the solution to the problem may be to remove the driver or change the system settings. The Shift+F8 keys, which in theory can be used when loading Windows 10 to get into the system recovery environment (and this is an analogue of the Seven boot options), are not so easy to use in practice. You will need to practice several times to catch that very moment of reduced system loading when the Shift+F8 keys can work.

Why is it needed?

Safe Computer Mode is a specific Windows state designed to resolve various problems.

In this case, only the most necessary devices and components to maintain the functionality of the OS are used. Safe mode means that you can work with administrator rights; it also allows you to delete files that the system or third-party software would not allow you to delete under normal conditions.

OS Safe Mode is an environment used to remove incorrectly installed drivers and cancel unsuccessfully applied system settings. For example, if you set a screen resolution that is not supported by the monitor, it will not always be possible to change it to one supported by the latter within a fully functioning system. So, there may simply be no image on the screen, and if there is no other monitor at hand that can display the image with the applied resolution, there is no other way to solve the problem than using safe mode. Instead of a video driver, the monitor uses the VGA standard, which is supported by all video cards designed for Windows devices.

Safe mode is one of the solutions to the problem of viruses penetrating the OS and blocking the operation of anti-virus programs. If the part of the system registry responsible for loading safe mode is not damaged by malware, you can try to run an anti-virus scanner, delete the startup file and/or virus process in the task manager, and also apply other actions to resuscitate the system.

Running system configuration section

Using the configuration section of a running system, you can get into the safe mode of Windows 10 by making some settings and rebooting. Right-click on the “Start” button and select the “Run” function.

In the field for entering commands we write:

Msconfig

After pressing Enter we will see the system configuration window. We are interested in the “Download” tab, here we check the “Safe Mode” checkbox.

By default, the system configuration provides a minimum type of safe mode, when startup programs do not start, there is no sound, the network is disabled, only basic drivers for the video device, hard drive, keyboard mouse and other devices necessary to maintain the minimum performance of the operating system work.

You can install other types of Safe Mode in Windows 10. By selecting “Other shell”, safe mode will be without the usual graphical interface, but only with the command line. This may be relevant if explorer.exe, a system service that ensures the operation of the OS Explorer, fails.

The item “Restore Active Directory” provides for loading safe mode with a graphical interface and a minimum number of active services, including the Active Directory directory service. If you need to access network resources, then in this case you need to select the “Network” item. It provides, accordingly, for the operation of the network card driver.

Having made your choice, click “Apply” at the bottom of the window and then “OK”.

After rebooting, Windows will start in safe mode.

The process for setting up Windows 10 to boot normally is reverse. In the system configuration section, the “Safe Mode” checkbox must be unchecked.

Shift key and reboot button for a running system

Another way to get into safe mode if Windows is in a working state is to use a single press of the Shift key and the restart button. Open the Start menu, click on the shutdown button and, while holding down the Shift key on the keyboard, select the option to restart the computer.

This will take us to the Windows 10 recovery environment. Here we first need the diagnostics section, then the additional settings section.

All sorts of boot options will appear before us - by pressing the F4, F5 or F6 keys, you can get into the safe mode of the corresponding type.

Safe mode for a non-bootable system

If Windows does not start at all or, for example, a resolution that the monitor does not support is mistakenly applied, displaying a message about this on a dull black screen background, you can boot into safe mode and try to find a solution to the problem, as in the previous case, using the system recovery environment .

As mentioned above, pressing Shift+F8 while Windows is loading may not always work, so a more reliable way to get into the recovery environment would be to boot from the installation disk or from one previously created by standard system tools.

When booting from the latter, we find ourselves in the recovery environment immediately after selecting the language. If the computer is booted from the installation disk, click “Next” in the welcome window.

The next steps are “Diagnostics” and “Advanced options”.

In the command line window we write:

bcdedit /set (globalsettings) advancedoptions true

and press Enter.

The operation was successful, close the command line and in the action selection menu click Continue using Windows 10.

After which we will see a list of download options.

If in safe mode you can eliminate the reason that prevents booting, and you can avoid reinstalling the system, in the future the computer will always boot with a menu of boot options. It is very easy to fix this using the same command line, which we now open by selecting from the contents of the context menu on the “Start” button.

Enter the command:

bcdedit /deletevalue (globalsettings) advancedoptions

and press Enter.

That's it - now the computer will boot as usual, without any pre-boot states or menus.

Have a great day!
