When changing one Android smartphone to another running on the same OS, there should be no problems with transferring information. But what if data is transferred between devices on different operating systems, for example, from Android to iOS? Is it possible to move them without causing serious problems?
Fortunately, the developers of both operating systems have provided the ability to transfer user information between devices. Special apps have been created for this, but you can use some third-party methods as well.
Move to iOS is a special application developed by Apple, which is designed to transfer data from Android to iOS. You can download it from Google Play for Android and AppStore for iOS. In both cases, downloading and using the application is free.
In order for you to be able to transfer all important user data in this way, you need to fulfill certain requirements:
When the preparatory stage is completed, you can proceed directly to transferring contacts:
This method of data transfer is the most acceptable and correct, but it does not always work correctly. Some data may not be displayed on iPhone.
Fortunately, in new versions of iOS, the transfer can be done by linking a Google account to your phone. But first you need to set up synchronization on your Android device:
Now all you have to do is link your Google account to your iPhone:
Music, photos, apps, documents, etc. you will have to transfer it manually. However, to simplify the procedure, you can use special applications. For example, Google Photos. You will need to download it on both devices, and then synchronize by logging into the same account.
This method involves downloading user information from Android to a computer and then transferring it to iPhone using iTunes.
If there are usually no problems transferring photos, music and documents from Android to a computer, they will arise with the transfer of contacts. Fortunately, this can also be done in several ways and relatively quickly.
Once all user data has been safely transferred to the computer, you can begin transferring it to the iPhone:
There is nothing complicated about transferring user data from Android to iPhone. If necessary, the proposed methods can be combined.
Moving data from an Android device to an iPhone may seem like a daunting task. However, with the spread of cloud services, this is not difficult to do. Using services like Dropbox and Google, you can get the same content on your Apple smartphone as you would on your Android device. This can be useful both during a full migration from one platform to another, and when temporarily changing phones.
iPhone is one step ahead of Android smartphones in many respects. These include stability, performance, the highest build quality, and the case materials used. An important advantage of iOS devices is that software products in the App Store undergo strict control, which guarantees the high quality of the purchased software. The Cupertino company's gadgets come with the latest version of the iOS operating system and further updating is not a problem, which cannot be said about Android devices. Another advantage of iOS is its intuitive interface, which makes the operating system very simple and easy to use.
Many cloud services, including Google mail, Facebook, Twitter, store data in the cloud. Cross-platform support for these services means that when you move from Android to iOS 7, you can automatically transfer all your information to your iPhone. This applies to contacts, mail and other data. You just need to specify the account settings in the Apple operating system settings.
For example, if you store contacts on Facebook and Twitter, you can take advantage of the special features of iOS 7. The Apple mobile platform provides the ability to “pull” data from social networks into the standard Contacts application. Go to Settings -> Facebook or Settings -> Twitter and click the Update contacts button.
Alternative method: If the contacts are in the memory of your Android smartphone, you will need to transfer them to the SD card. To do this, go to the Contacts application on Android, select the Export to storage function in the Import\Export menu. All data and additional information will be collected in a file with the VCF extension. Transfer it to your computer or send it by mail. Now open the VCF file on your iPhone using the Contacts app or upload to the cloud at iCloud.com.
The popular Dropbox service is available on most modern mobile and desktop operating systems. With its help, photos and videos can be automatically uploaded to the cloud. To transfer images from an Android smartphone to an iPhone, all you need to do is register for the service, download the free client from Google Play and run it on the device. After the program completes transferring data to the cloud, all content from the Google Phone will be available in Dropbox on your iPhone.
To copy multimedia files - movies, TV shows, music, podcasts - you need to connect your Android to your computer and manually copy the content to your PC. If you use Windows, then you have access to data directly from Explorer. On computers running OS X, you can download the free Android File Transfer application. Now connect your Android smartphone to your PC and transfer multimedia content to your computer's memory. Remember that only mp4, m4v and mov video formats work on iPhone by default. Android out of the box plays avi, mkv, wmv and other files. Without jailbreaking or conversion, you can play them on iPhone using the free VLC application.
Android is fully integrated with Google apps. If you don’t want to give them up, then remember that similar programs are available for iPhone smartphones in the App Store. All your data is stored remotely and accessible on any compatible device.
Have you purchased an Apple phone and want to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone? - this is easy to do and there are several ways to do this, which I will describe in this instruction. And, by the way, you shouldn’t use any third-party programs for this (although there are plenty of them), because you already have everything you might need. (If you need to move the contacts in the opposite direction:)
Transferring Android contacts to iPhone is possible both online, if the contacts are synchronized with Google, and without using the Internet, but almost directly: from phone to phone (almost, because in the meantime we will need to use a computer). You can also import contacts from a SIM card to an iPhone, I’ll write about that too.
The first method is for those who have Android contacts synced with Google - in this case, all we need to transfer them is to remember the login and password for your account, which you will need to enter in the iPhone settings.
In order to transfer contacts, go to the iPhone settings, select “Mail, Addresses, Calendars”, then “Add an account”.
Further steps may vary (read the description and choose what suits you best):
Attention: if you have two-factor authentication enabled in your Google account (you receive an SMS when you log in from a new computer), then before performing the above steps (in both the first and second cases), you need to create an application password and use this particular password when entering. (About what an application password is and how to create it: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=ru)
If you go to the “Contacts” application on Android, press the menu button, select “Import/export”, and then “Export to storage”, then a vCard file with the extension .vcf will be saved on your phone, containing all your contacts Android and perfectly perceived by iPhone and Apple programs.
I think the listed methods are not all possible, since contacts in the .vcf format are quite universal and can be opened by almost any program for working with this type of data.
I don’t know whether transferring contacts from a SIM card is worth highlighting as a separate item, but questions about this often arise.
So, to transfer contacts from a SIM card to an iPhone, you just need to go to “Settings” - “Mail, addresses, calendars” and below the “Contacts” subsection, click the “Import SIM contacts” button. In a matter of seconds, the SIM card contacts will be saved on your phone.
There are also many programs for Windows and Mac that allow you to transfer contacts and other information between Android and iPhone, however, in my opinion, as I wrote at the beginning, they are not needed, because the same thing can be easily done manually. However, I’ll give you a couple of such programs: suddenly, you have a different view on the advisability of using them:
In fact, this software is designed not so much for copying contacts between phones on different platforms, but for synchronizing media files, photos and other data, but it is also quite suitable for contacts.
Moving files from Android to Android is quite simple. All data can be transferred to an external micro SD card, and then installed in a new device. It is not possible to copy personal information from one operating system to another (for example, from Android to iOS) using this method. Let's look at how to transfer user data and files from Android to iPhone or vice versa.
Copying data between different operating systems can be done in several ways. It all depends on the type of files you want to move. To transport your calendar, SMS messages, notes and numbers from your phone book, the easiest way is to use the Move to iOS program or Google virtual storage. To transfer multimedia, a PC and the iTunes application or the same cloud service are used.
Move to iOS is an official Apple product that allows you to transfer a calendar with all notes, contacts from the phone book and other user data from Android to iPhone or iPad. For a successful transfer, the following conditions must be met:
Before you transfer your notes, calendar, and other data, install the Move to iOS app on your Android phone. This can be done through Google Play or another site. If you download the utility from a third-party source, first check it with an antivirus. The further procedure will be as follows:
Once the copying is complete, all user information will appear on the new smartphone. It's worth noting that you won't be able to transfer apps from Android to iPhone, so you'll need to download them again.
You can transfer your calendar, notes and other important information from Android to iPhone through the Google service. This is done as follows:
After copying the information to the virtual disk, it will be accessible from a computer or other mobile device. Now, to transfer data to iOS, you just need to link it to the same account. This is done in the “Mail, addresses, calendars” tab. If everything is done correctly, the iPhone will automatically prompt you to synchronize.
The Google Photo service will help you transfer photos and videos from one phone to another. On Android this application is standard, but on iOS you will need to download it. To copy, just link both smartphones to one account and make minimal settings in the Google Photo program itself.
Exactly the same steps must be taken to download music to the iPhone.
Transferring data from iPhone to Android is done in almost the same way as in reverse. You can use Google Shared Drive to copy your phone book, notes, and calendar. This is perhaps the easiest way to transfer from iOS to Android, although there are other transportation methods (Dropbox, Outlook, Yandex, etc.).
Move to iOS is a proprietary Apple service that helps you semi-automatically transfer data from the Android operating system to iOS, saving a lot of time and getting rid of synchronization problems and the possible risk of losing confidential information in advance. The procedure takes up to half an hour of free time and consists of several intuitive steps, however, described in detail in the instructions below.
And although the Move to iOS service actually relieves users of the headache associated with transferring data between two operating systems, it is too early to relax. Before starting the procedure, you need to deal with an impressive collection of actions:
All actions are completed. Having problems? It's worth contacting.
